Coupling half with a keyed bore, two threaded studs, a nut and two keys

Our centre lathes have thread and feed settings for metric, imperial, module and DP threads, and we cut keyways on our mills and slotter.

Parts we make

  • Couplings and threaded couplings
  • Coupling nuts, impeller nuts, piston-rod nuts and special nuts
  • Special studs
  • Keys, supplied loose or with the shaft

How we make them

  • Threads: metric, imperial, module and DP, cut on centre lathes with thread and feed plates for all four.
  • Keyways: milled on universal knee mills and turret mills; internal keyways cut on a Sachman Synchron 225 vertical slotter.
  • Batches: small batches on our two CNC turning centres.

Questions buyers ask

Can you copy a special nut or stud from a sample?

Yes. MSE makes special nuts and studs to a sample when there is no drawing. It has made piston-rod nuts this way. Send or bring the part and tell us the material if you know it.

Do you cut imperial and DP threads?

Yes. MSE’s centre lathes have thread and feed settings for metric, imperial, module and DP threads. Send the drawing and we confirm on the quote.

Can you cut an internal keyway?

Yes. Internal keyways are cut on MSE’s vertical slotter. Send the drawing and we confirm the size on the quote.

Quality

Checked against your drawing and revision.

  • Your order is checked against the drawing number and revision. If they differ, we ask you to confirm in writing.
  • Parts are inspected against your drawing.
  • Run-out is checked on ground shafts.
  • Tell us at quote stage which documents you need, and the quote will say which we supply.
