Made to order

What we make

MSE makes pump spares and machined components to order in Germiston, east of Johannesburg: wear rings, pump shafts, sleeves and bushes, balance and rotating parts, covers and housings, couplings, nuts, studs and keys, and repairs. We also machine castings and impellers that you supply. Every part is made to your drawing or sample, in the grade you specify, one-off to small batch. There is no catalogue and no stock of finished parts.

How a part is made at MSE

  1. We check the drawing. Your order is checked against the drawing number and revision before work starts. If they differ, we ask you to confirm in writing.
  2. We buy the material to your grade. If you need a mill certificate, say so at quote stage: it changes the material we buy. Or you supply the bar or casting.
  3. We machine it in-house. CNC and conventional turning, milling, slotting, cylindrical grinding, straightening and drilling, on 30 machines.
  4. Partners do the specialist steps your drawing calls for: heat treatment, hard chrome, thermal spray, Stellite hardfacing, ultrasonic testing, castings.
  5. We inspect against your drawing on a surface table with height gauges, and check run-out on ground shafts.
  6. We deliver in our own vehicles, with the documents agreed at quote stage.

Questions buyers ask

Does MSE sell pumps or stock OEM spares?

No. MSE does not sell pumps and holds no stock of finished spares. It makes each spare to order, to the drawing or sample of the pump you run, in the grade you specify.

Can MSE make a part for any pump make?

MSE works from the drawing or sample you send, so we can quote whatever the pump make. Send the drawing number and revision, or the part, with the pump make, model and size.

What sizes can MSE make?

Send us the size and we confirm it on the quote. As a guide, we make 200 mm diameter shafts 2,857 mm long in hardened and tempered 42CrMo4 as a repeat order. See parts we have made.
