Grades and conditions

Materials we machine

MSE machines pump parts in more than 20 grades at its works in Germiston, east of Johannesburg: austenitic and martensitic stainless, duplex and super duplex, cast stainless CA6NM, alloy and carbon steels, grey, ductile and nickel cast irons, tin and phosphor bronzes, and engineering plastics. Every grade below appears in our own orders from 2024 to 2026. We buy the material to the grade and condition on your drawing, or machine material you supply.

Write "match the original" or "please advise" on your enquiry, and send the old part or the pump make, model and size. If you need a mill certificate, say so at quote stage: it changes the material we buy.

Questions buyers ask

Who machines duplex and super duplex pump parts in South Africa?

MSE (Mechanical Spares & Engineering) in Germiston, Gauteng, machines pump parts in duplex 1.4462 (2205 family) and super duplex 1.4501 (S32760 family) to drawing, and passes on the mill certificate when the order requires one and the mill provides it.

Do you machine 431 stainless hardened and tempered?

Yes. MSE machines 431 (1.4057) hardened and tempered, for example to QT800 or HB300, including for pump shafts.

Do you make parts in bronze?

Yes. MSE machines tin bronzes CC480K and CC495K, leaded tin bronze of the LG2 family and phosphor bronze PB1, including for wear rings and bushes.

Can you supply a material certificate?

Ask at quote stage. Mill certificates to EN 10204 3.1, or 3.2 where the mill issues one, are passed on when the order requires them and the mill provides them.
